How can I get involved with Helping Paws?
Conveniently located in Eden Prairie, Helping Paws is currently seeking talented, community minded individuals to join our volunteer corp. Helping Paws relies on volunteers to fulfill our mission and represent us as ambassadors in the community.
More than 400 volunteers annually offer their support for the work of our dogs. While some individuals dedicate their time (ranging from 10 months to two years) to become Foster Home Trainers and train dogs, others choose to volunteer once a year during an annual event. Come join our community.

What We’re Looking For:
We welcome individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. Ideal volunteers, committee, or board candidates possess:
1. Passion: A genuine commitment to accessibility and ableism advocacy, and community well-being.
2. Expertise: Skills in areas such as dog behavior and training, healthcare, social service, finance, legal, human resources, marketing, or fundraising are welcomed.
3. Availability: Willingness to volunteer as needed, participate in monthly committee or board meetings (in-person or virtual), and contribute actively.
4. Connections: Networks within the Twin Cities community, social service, business, or philanthropic sectors.

Feel free to share any relevant experience, skills, or ideas you’d bring to our Fundraising, Donor Management, Marketing & PR, or Personnel committees, or to our board. Volunteer and Committee applicants undergo thorough review by Helping Paws. Board candidate applicants undergo review by the Nominations committee, considering their background, skills, and alignment with the existing board. The committee then recommends candidates for board membership. Final decisions are made by a majority vote during a duly held meeting of the board of directors.

Helping Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. We are dedicated to the breeding, training and placement of assistance dogs for people who have physical disabilities and for Veterans and first responders who have PTSD. We also provide facility dogs that are partnered with a facilitator working in a care giving, educational or courtroom setting.
